In this free video guitar lesson, I perform and break down the guitar solo heard in the song “The Middle” by Jimmy Eat World from the album Bleed American. I provide you with a full tablature transcription and perform the solo at 162 BPM full tempo plus slowed down at 100 BPM. The music is in the key of D major and the entire solo is based in D major scale patterns. The solo makes use of lots of hammer-ons, pull-offs, and slides plus some rapid alternate picking technique. I use a PRS SE Mira electric guitar with Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P90 pickups. I play through a Kemper Profiling Amplifier using a profile of a Marshall Super Lead set to maximum gain. I add boost, reverb, and delay effects. If you like my presentation here and would like to learn more about playing guitar, check out the free instruction available on this website.
