Throughout these Fretboard Theory courses, you have learned about pentatonic scales, major scales, and chord progressions. Here in course 7, you take a close look at how these components fit together, namely how the pentatonic and major scale patterns are mixed and applied over chords and chord progressions. You learn how to determine the primary pitch of a piece of music and what types of scales to play along with it. This information will help you better understand the music you play and take some of the guesswork out of figuring out songs. Furthermore, once you complete these lessons you’ll be more prepared to compose and improvise your own music.
Be sure to complete Fretboard Theory 1 courses, 2 (pentatonic scales), 5 (major scales), and 6 (chord progressions and playing by numbers) before beginning this course, otherwise the material will not make sense.
